Project Details

I was the sole developer responsible for the entire project lifecycle—from theme architecture and development through testing, optimization, and deployment. Working closely with the design, I transformed the visual concepts into a production-ready Shopify storefront while ensuring the site remained highly maintainable and scalable for future growth.

Project Goals

• Launch a premium Japanese tea brand with a strong online presence.
• Deliver a fully bilingual shopping experience in English and Japanese.
• Capture the elegance and craftsmanship associated with traditional Japanese tea culture.
• Provide a highly flexible content management system that enables non-technical users to update and expand the website without developer assistance.

Solution

The project was built as a fully customized Shopify theme using Dawn as the foundation while extensively extending its architecture to meet the unique design and content requirements of the brand.

A major focus of the implementation was creating a modular, component-driven theme. I developed a comprehensive library of reusable Shopify sections and configurable content blocks, allowing the client to easily assemble new landing pages, rearrange existing layouts, and manage page content directly through Shopify's Theme Editor without modifying code.

The visual design relied heavily on decorative background artwork and layered graphical elements throughout the site. To support this, I engineered reusable layout components capable of seamlessly integrating these graphical assets while maintaining consistency across different page layouts and screen sizes. This approach preserved the intended visual identity while keeping the implementation maintainable and performant.

The theme also incorporates configurable color schemes, reusable page templates, and centralized theme settings, enabling visual customization and content updates entirely through Shopify's configuration options.
